This is my Glossary of the Wonderful World of Words that I’ve been introduced to, or reacquainted with, by people and posts that I have encountered on the World Wide Web! This may take a while to become a long list but I’ve gotten to the literary age where new words fascinate and excite me when I can actually think of ways to use them!
This list will hopefully be ever-growing and ever-accumulating words of useful interest. I will always try to provide the best and most complete definition for these words. I promise!
- Clandestine: Something secretive that is kept under wraps, probably because it is for some illicit purpose of some kind. Secretive, sneaky, covert, and stealthy works as well. The discovery of this word came from the book Indian Summer by Dellani Oakes. I was led to that book by April Robins at Robin Falls.
- Sardonic: Another word for sarcastic but with an added twist. This is annoyed sarcasm. YourDictionary.com calls it “disdainfully or bitterly sneering, ironic, or sarcastic.” Sarcastically bitchy! This word sounds so much more eloquent than just plain sarcastic!
- Verisimilar: Believable — something we all try to make our fictional story telling! The definition from YourDictionary.com defines it as seeming to be true or real, plausible, or likely. I got this word from my creative and horrific blogger friend, Bobby Revell at Revellian.com.
- Vapid: Such a lovely adjective! I like this method of describing something or someone that is tasteless, dull, uninteresting, etc. What a great way to say boring!
