Each Carnival edition will have a theme (of sorts) — the theme will be a writing prompt, one that prompts a blogger to write a related post, or to resurrect a post that reminds him/her of that prompt.
These writing prompts could come from anywhere but there’s an added twist to the source of those prompts, so read on.
Read the prompt (I’ll be sure you know what it is and/or where to find it) and then:
- If it makes you want to write something, do it, and then share it here!
- If it reminds you of a book you’ve reviewed on your blog, so be it! Share the link to that review here!
- If you have a story you’ve written on your blog recently, or years ago even, then share it here!
The prompts are open to interpretation, take it and run with it — that’s what this Carnival is all about. Let your creativity soar! I will ask that you try to keep it a little clean, please? Carnival readers will be warned about content ahead of time, if necessary.
Posts may get rejected if the content is too off-color — it’s a judgment call that has to be in keeping with BlogCarnival.com’s guidelines. (That doesn’t mean I won’t like reading it; it just means I may have to remove it from the Carnival. I don’t want to do that. Ever.)
Here’s the added twist:
Where these writing prompts come from remains to be seen. I can easily come up with a bunch but I’m leaving that part open for submissions as well! Got an idea for a prompt? Want us all to use it? Send it in as a submission to the Carnival; just label it as a prompt. Photography can certainly be good for writing prompts too, so feel free to send in a link to a photo you think can be used as a writing prompt!
Let’s make this an interesting and fun writing-community effort. Let’s interact a little with this.
NOTE:
- DO NOT send in posts that are advertisements! We have too much respect for our readers to inflict that on them. Please respect that. Posts of this kind will not be permitted in this carnival.
- Be sure to submit your entries no later than 11:59 pm Eastern time on the due date. Gathering up all of the carnival submissions and putting it all together is a lot of work so please adhere to this time schedule. Posts that miss the deadline will be included in the carnival for the following month.
- Whenever possible, posts should be suitable for the whole family. Keep your listings clean! What you put on your blog site is your business but any submissions of profane or offensive material to this carnival are subject to removal.
SUGGESTIONS FOR PARTICIPANTS
When the Writing-Prompt Carnival goes live online and your entry is one of the “rides” at the carnival, you will be sent an email with the link to the carnival. It is then highly recommended that you post about the carnival and share the link with your readers so that they can go check it out! If all of the participants do the same, then everyone gains by getting new readers to their site!
